The definitive book on bamboo fly rod restoration.  This is the book Michael Sinclair often refers in his masterpiece the Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook which builds upon the work of Kirkfields book.  $250 Available as of 1/14/02

I had the pleasure of meeting George at the Mid-Atlantic Rod Makers Gathering in Boiling Springs, PA. VG+ condition, previous owner made a couple notations in book. This is a scarce collectible book on the art of rod making. $95.00

I found a couple of hard cover and soft cover books after looking for the hard cover book for over 4 years! 168 pages 1991 1st edition.  This book is more scarce that Granger Green Silk! According to Michael Sinclair, one of the co-authors, only 1,800 soft cover and 200 hard cover books were ever printed! Due to the large number of Granger and Phillipson bamboo rod owners, these books are very hard to obtain.  I unearthed a few rare copies of this sought after book.  $95.00 SC or $245.00 HC

A Collection of Articles, Drawings, Essays and Anecdotes by today's Bamboo Rodmakers from Around the World. Some of the latest secrets and tips revealed by rod makers practicing their art today! • The Fine Bamboo Rod, A Master's Secrets of Restoration & Repair -- Stuart Kirkfield.  2nd edition of the 1986 classic. A couple minor changes in 1999. Hard cover with a dark burgundy leatherette cover and full color dust jacket. Unsigned 1st edition copies go for $250-300. This book is the most comprehensive book on bamboo rod restoration and repair ever written. Autographed copies destined to be immediate collectibles. $79.95 
• Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook -- Michael Sinclair; Spiral-bound. This is THE book to own if you collect or restore bamboo rods. This book builds on the great work of Stuart Kirkfield's "The Fine Bamboo Rod". Sinclair's book provides hard to find information to help you identify most production rods as well as providing an organized chart of silk thread colors which is the basis of my silk thread page. • E. F. Payne Corporate Minutes  Book -- This unusual book is an exact reproduction of the corporate record book maintained by the E.F. Payne Rod Co. from the time of incorporation on march 10, 1930, until the sale and restructuring of the company in 1968.  An important historical record of one of America's most famous bamboo rod companies.  Information in the 128 page, 8 1/2 X 11" book presents a concise, factual record of the company during this historic period.  This book does not include any production records of information about rod models produced by the company. While leafing thru this book, I saw where the corp. agreed to pay James Payne $75.00/week for running the corp! Deluxe Soft cover is a striking red cover with gold foil printing . $17.95
• Fiberglass Fly Rods -- Soft cover. Victor R. Johnson. 8.5" X 11", 176 pages.  This book is a lot more than just about 'glass rods.  It also talks about the evolution of the modern fly rod and the transition from bamboo to graphite. Also goes into detail about the many rod companies and it a surprisingly valuable resource for the bamboo rod collector as well.  It talks about what happened to many of the bamboo rod making companies and who took over what companies and who made rods for who... Sounds confusing? Buy the book... Fiberglass rods might be the next tackle collecting area that will make some large appreciation moves in the near future... I've seen a few 'glass rods sell in the $500-1,000+ prices recently so there's opportunity to make some shrewd buys if you're in the know... For $19.95 you to can become an instant 'glass expert...

This book is written so that you do not need an engineering degree in order to build a bamboo fly rod. Lot's of tips, tricks and tapers. Hardcover 288 pages A few available at only $24.95
• Classic and Antique Fly-Fishing Tackle : A Guide for Collectors and Anglers; A. J. Campbell. This is a must have book for the antique flyfishing takle collector! This book is every bit as valuable as the Marty Keane book which now sells for $525+.  One last First Edition Hard Cover $95.  Soft cover edition available $25
• American Fly Fishing : An Illustrated History ~ Paul D. Schullery / Hardcover /NEW!
